Cape Cod ReUnited Appoints UKSD as Directors of Coaching & Player Development

Cape Cod ReUnited FC, Cape Cod's Soccer Club, has announced the creation of an exciting new Junior Academy designed to provide young soccer players on Cape Cod with access to the very best in training and development opportunities, locally.

The Cape Cod ReUnited Junior Academy is for players who want extra top-level training to help them reach their potential in this sport.  It's important to note that this program is designed to complement, not replace, the players' town program participation.

The Junior Academy will follow an age-appropriate curriculum based on the four pillars of the game (technical, tactical, physical, mental) that not only exposes players to soccer training forms appropriate for their age but is also sequential so each session builds on past sessions.  From first touch/ball control and dynamic passing/shooting techniques through to 1v1, 2v2 and team defending and attacking — this program has been tested and fine-tuned over the years and continues to be updated with the latest training methods for the benefit of the players.

Development is a continuum and will never stop as long as a player continues to play.  Because youth players are at the embryonic stage of soccer development, it's important that we foster the proper skills and ensure that the kids are having fun.  If we are successful, they will grow, succeed, and prosper in this game, in our very own community!

At this stage it is all about them and the ball:  the more touches on the ball, the easier it is to hot-wire their brains and their feet to develop proper technique.  So, the curriculum of the Cape Cod ReUnited Junior Academy will provide each player with a solid foundation in technique and help expand her/his tactical awareness.

According to CCRU President Alfredo Alvarenga, perhaps the most exciting aspect of the new Junior Academy is that it will be run by CCRU's new Directors of Coaching & Player Development James 'Jambo' Boden and Lee 'Doc' Docherty from UK Sports Development.  "Kids get better when they are having fun and when they work with the very best in coaching," says Alvarenga.  "For young players on Cape Cod to have regular exposure to coaches of Jambo and Doc's caliber is a truly unique and very special opportunity.  One that shouldn't be missed."

From UKSD's perspective, it's all about providing young players with excellent training while encouraging and fueling the passion that is a natural part of every kid.  As Doc states, "Jambo and myself are great advocates of player, coach and team chemistry.  We know that by being personable coaches and sharing our passion, excitement and energy of the game, we can inspire each and every player."

Don't miss this truly special opportunity for your young players to continue to develop their soccer skills throughout the year.  Register for the CCRU Junior Academy tryouts today.  Your kids and your town program will thank you!

Cape Cod ReUnited's Junior Academy costs just $150 per session and will run two sessions per year; in the Spring and Fall seasons (late afternoon on Fridays, starting in September).  In addition to having a fantastic time on the pitch, players will receive the following:

  • Professional instruction on ball control, dribbling, shooting, tactical and mental awareness, and overall technical and physical development.
  • Scrimmages versus age appropriate teams.
  • Game uniforms.
  • Opportunities for select U10 players to join a CCRU MAPLE team.

Should you have questions or need further information, please contact Doc or Jambo at your convenience.  Feel free to distribute our Junior Academy Flyer.
